Little Rock Nine® Member Dies

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - September 06, 2010 - Jefferson Thomas, one of the nine black high school students who braved segregationist mobs to integrate the all-white Little Rock Central High School in 1957 under the protection of military forces ordered by the president of the United States, died Sunday of pancreatic cancer. He was 67.

Little Rock Nine® Foundation Extends Scholarship Application Deadline

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – March 02, 2009 – The historic Little Rock Nine® Foundation extends its legacy through its meaningful Scholarship and Mentorship Program. This opportunity is limited to the awarding of nine essay-winning high school students who apply before the deadline, exhibit leadership ability, possess high levels of motivation, overwhelmingly demonstrate being a difference-maker in their community, and meet all qualifying criteria.   The deadline for application for this truly once in a lifetime opportunity has been extended from the previously posted website deadline of January 31, 2009 to March 31, 2009 due to the Foundation’s sensitivity of current events and today’s economic difficulties.

From Integration of High School to Integration of the Nation’s “Capital”

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – March 02, 2009 – The historic Little Rock Nine® Foundation, like its founding members did in 1957, is integrating once again, but this time with a fresh, cyber twist. The Foundation recently sought the creative prowess of LAF Productions, Inc. to update and redesign their website, www.littlerock9.org, giving it an aesthetically-pleasing layout and easy-to-navigate site design with an SSL secured PayPal-based contributions/donations page with currency conversion and language adaptability that allows the site to integrate capital from across the globe and the nation.

Little Rock Nine® Foundation Honors 2007 Scholarship and Mentorship Award Recipients

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – August 21, 2007 – The desegregation of American society has come a long way since 1957, when nine black students walked into Little Rock’s Central High School under armed guard in defiance of the tumultuous racial climate of that time. These courageous young people came to embody the African American struggle for equality, and 50 years later, they’re returning to Little Rock to honor education and perseverance at the Little Rock Nine® Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and Scholarship Awards Gala.
